Panasonic Etherea 3-Bedroom Multi-Split — Detached Home in St Albans

Supply and installation of a Panasonic Etherea 3-zone multi-split system in a four-bedroom detached home in St Albans, covering the master bedroom and two secondary bedrooms.

The Challenge

The client's main priority was bedroom cooling for sleep comfort during summer. They wanted ultra-quiet units in all three bedrooms and had concerns about pipework visibility on the rear elevation, which faces a landscaped garden.

Our Solution

We installed a Panasonic CU-3Z68TBE multi-split outdoor unit on the rear of the property with three Etherea CS-Z wall-mounted indoor units — one in the master bedroom and one each in the two secondary bedrooms. The Etherea range was specifically chosen for its exceptionally low noise output (19dB in quiet mode) and slim, white aesthetic. All refrigerant pipework was routed internally and concealed with colour-matched trunking. A dedicated electrical circuit was installed to Part P standards by our in-house electricians.

The Outcome

The client reported significantly improved sleep quality from the first night. Each bedroom has independent zone control via the Panasonic Comfort Cloud app, with full heating capability for winter. The Nanoe X air purification built into each Etherea unit was an added benefit the client appreciated for allergy management. Manufacturer warranty was registered on their behalf during commissioning.

Panasonic TZ Single Bedroom Unit — Victorian Semi in Hitchin

Supply and installation of a Panasonic TZ single-room split system in a Victorian semi-detached property in Hitchin — installed in a top-floor bedroom that was becoming unliveable in summer.

The Challenge

The top-floor bedroom in the Victorian semi reached temperatures above 32°C in summer, making it unusable. The property's solid stone walls and loft location made pipe routing difficult, and the client needed the outdoor unit positioned discreetly at low level rather than on the roof.

Our Solution

We installed a Panasonic CS-TZ25WKEW indoor unit with a compact CU-TZ25WKE outdoor unit at ground-floor level on the side return of the property. The refrigerant pipework was routed through the property externally in RAL-matched trunking, keeping disruption to the original Victorian interior fabric to a minimum. The TZ model's A+++ efficiency rating and 19dB quiet mode made it ideal for overnight use.

The Outcome

The bedroom is now fully usable year-round. The client described the noise level as 'almost silent' compared to the portable unit they had tried previously. The Panasonic Comfort Cloud app allows them to pre-cool the room before bedtime. Running costs are significantly lower than the old portable cooler.

Samsung Split System Fault Diagnosis & Repair — Cambridge

Emergency fault diagnosis, refrigerant recharge, and full annual service on a Samsung split system at a residential property in Cambridge.

The Challenge

The client's three-year-old Samsung unit had gradually lost cooling capacity over the summer. A previous contractor had attended twice but been unable to identify the root cause of the fault.

Our Solution

Our engineer carried out a comprehensive diagnostic including refrigerant pressure testing at all access points. A slow leak at a flare connection was identified and confirmed. We resealed the joint, pressure-tested the system to manufacturer specification, recharged the refrigerant to the correct level, and completed a full annual service including coil cleaning, filter replacement, and condensate drain check.

The Outcome

The unit was restored to full cooling capacity on the same visit. The client enrolled on our annual service contract. No further faults have been recorded.

Mitsubishi Electric 3-Zone Multi-Split — Period Property in Cambridge

Supply and installation of a Mitsubishi Electric 3-zone multi-split system in a large Edwardian semi-detached property in Cambridge, serving a home office and two first-floor bedrooms.

The Challenge

The client — a researcher who works from home — needed reliable cooling for a ground-floor home office that reaches temperatures above 28°C in summer. Two upstairs bedrooms were also uncomfortably warm. The period property had solid brick walls and limited loft access, making discreet pipe routing a significant challenge.

Our Solution

We installed a Mitsubishi Electric MXZ-3F68VF3 3-zone outdoor unit on the rear elevation, with MSZ-EF 'Premium' wall-mounted indoor units in the home office and both bedrooms. The Premium range was selected for its flush, frameless design — sympathetic to the period interior. Refrigerant pipework was routed via the original chimney breast void in the home office, and through purpose-cut passages in the solid brick upstairs. All penetrations were sealed to original finishes and finished with RAL-matched trunking externally.

The Outcome

The home office now maintains a consistent 21°C regardless of outdoor temperature, significantly improving productivity through summer. Both bedrooms benefit from near-silent overnight operation at 19dB in quiet mode. The client also uses the system for heating in winter, reducing reliance on the gas boiler in the rooms they use most.

Consumer Unit Upgrade & Panasonic Installation — Detached Home in Watford

Full consumer unit upgrade followed by a Panasonic single-split AC installation in a 1970s detached property in Watford — all completed by our in-house electrical and AC engineers over two days.

The Challenge

The client's property still had an older rewirable fuse board with no RCD protection — a prerequisite for insurance renewal and a safety concern we flagged during the initial AC survey. The existing board had insufficient capacity for a new dedicated AC circuit without an upgrade.

Our Solution

Day one: our Part P electricians upgraded the consumer unit to a fully RCD-protected Wylex board with RCBO protection on individual circuits. All work was notified to the local authority and a completion certificate issued. Day two: AC installation proceeded with a Panasonic CS-TZ35WKEW single-split system installed in the main living room, with a dedicated 16A circuit run from the new board. The outdoor unit was positioned on a purpose-built bracket at low level on the rear elevation.

The Outcome

The client received a fully certified electrical installation report and AC commissioning certificate at the end of day two. The upgraded board is now future-proofed for an EV charger circuit, which the client plans to add next year. The living room AC has been in use daily since installation with no issues reported.

Daikin Perfera Single-Room Installation — New Build in Enfield

Supply and installation of a Daikin Perfera single-room system in a new-build apartment in Enfield — specified by the client for its ultra-low sound output and A+++ energy rating.

The Challenge

The client had researched AC systems thoroughly before contacting us and specifically wanted a Daikin Perfera unit for its energy efficiency credentials. The apartment's lease required landlord consent for external modifications, and the outdoor unit positioning needed to comply with the building's ground-floor plant regulations.

Our Solution

Following confirmation of landlord consent, we installed a Daikin FTXM50R indoor unit in the main bedroom with an RXM50R outdoor unit in the designated plant area at ground level. Copper pipework was routed through a pre-approved penetration point in the external wall, with weather-sealed trunking to the plant area. The 5kW capacity unit is sized slightly above the room requirement to allow for low-speed, low-noise overnight operation.

The Outcome

The system has been in use through two full summers with no issues. The client reports the bedroom maintains 20°C throughout the night with the fan on its lowest setting, which is virtually inaudible. Daikin's online controller allows scheduling from abroad when the client travels for work.

Hive Active Heating with Multi-Zone Control — Victorian Terrace in Bedford

Installation of a Hive Active Heating system with two smart radiator valves for zone control in a Victorian mid-terrace in Bedford — replacing a basic programmable thermostat with a fully app-controlled setup.

The Challenge

The client had an older Worcester Bosch combi boiler with a basic weekly programmer that didn't support multi-zone scheduling. They wanted independent control of the ground floor (kitchen/lounge) and first floor (bedrooms), and were particularly interested in geofencing to avoid heating an empty house.

Our Solution

We installed a Hive Active Heating hub and receiver, wired to the Worcester Bosch boiler by our Part P electrician. A Hive Thermostat was positioned in the hallway as the main control, with Hive Radiator Valve Thermostats fitted to radiators in the kitchen and two upstairs bedrooms to create three independent temperature zones. The Hive app was configured with a working-from-home schedule, away mode, and geofencing linked to both the client's and partner's phones.

The Outcome

The client reports estimated energy savings of around 22% based on the Hive app's usage comparison with the previous year. The geofencing feature has eliminated accidental all-day heating, and the bedroom zone is now set to a lower overnight temperature with a warm-up schedule before the alarm. The client has since recommended us to two neighbours.

Google Nest Learning Thermostat — Victorian Terrace in Harpenden

Supply, electrical wiring, and full app configuration of a Google Nest Learning Thermostat with independent hot water control in a Victorian terraced property.

The Challenge

The property had an older conventional (non-combi) boiler with a separate hot water cylinder — a more complex wiring requirement than standard combi systems. Independent smart control of both heating and hot water zones was required.

Our Solution

We installed a Nest Learning Thermostat with a Nest Heat Link and a separate hot water control relay wired to control both circuits independently. Our electrician re-wired the airing cupboard junction box and routed new cable cleanly to the new thermostat position. The app was fully configured on the client's phone before we left, including schedule programming, away mode, and home/away assist.

The Outcome

The client now has full independent smart control of heating and hot water from a single Nest app. The Nest's learning algorithm adapted to their schedule within two weeks. The app reports projected annual energy savings of 18% compared to previous usage.
